Yay! Halloween week! Halloween is one of my favorite days of the year!! And last year was one of my favorite years for costumes! I had 3! I’m a huge fan of Johnny Depp and Wes Anderson movies, so as you will see Johnny Depp’s makeup in these movies was a huge inspiration to me last year.  Especially since the movie Dark Shadows premiered on Movie Central. Here are some pics of some of my favorite looks from last year.

Dark Shadows

My sister transformed into Barnabas Collins in ‘Dark Shadows’.

2 looks one base

Here we took the Barnabas Collins look and changed her into a crazy Spider Queen! There was definitely some glam rock/KISS inspiration going on!

dark shadows spider bite

On myself I did the Dark Shadows makeup and added the spiders with a nest egg in my hair and spiders hatching. My body was crawling with spiders! The look was very Helena Bonham Carter from ‘Sweeney Todd: The Barber of Seville’.

same same but different

I loved this Edward Scissor Hands look that I did for my work day at MAC Cosmetics Market Mall! Such a fun day! It took me a couple hours but it was 7 am when I started so I was a bit tired! I twisted strips of cotton batting and latex to make the scars then shaded and contoured my face.  I think the look got better as the day went on as people coming into the store were asking to take photos of me with their children!

art deco mini

And finally, I went home and replaced Edward with this Art Deco style Mini Mouse! This was way more difficult than I thought. Drawing the graphic lines on my own face was way more difficult than painting on other people’s faces! This gave me a new appreciation for those you tube artists out there that do all the looks on themselves instead of a model! This look was alot of fun, super easy and pretty!  Best was there was no need to brow block!

This year I’m doing lots of zombie makeup but I still have a few appointments available on the 31st so if you are inspired by anything you see here give me a call and let’s make you ghoulish this Hallow’s Eve! Mwahhhahahahahahaha!
